Song Eight: I Remember When (Believe In Me)

This song closes the first Act of the play and features a simple solo piece for Wendy, the spirit. It is based around a simple rock-ballad style of progression, and if you listen closely you can probably hear reminders of Tears In Heaven in the background. I assure you that any likeness to that song was only coincidental. Not really a bad thing, just not intentional.

This song was choreographed to have Wendy as the quiet centre of attention while around her floated a chorus of other spirits. They didn't sing, they just danced around and looked good.

The piece is written in four with strong piano influence, although the strings get a bit of a haunting counter melody. The high pitched haunting tune that repeats throughout the song is meant to reflect the call of spirits. It was written and arranged using Sibelius 3.

I Remember When (Believe In Me)

I remember when
Days were longer then, they'd last forever.
I'd laugh and play with the friends I'd made but now the
Years have gone and time's passed away, but
I remember when.

My sun has ceased to shine.
It's been a long, long time since I was happy.
Midnight's passed and life's curtains have been drawn,
So now I'm left waiting for the dawn, now
I just wish someone would

Believe in me
Believe in me

Can you see me here?
Crying silent tears that catch the moonlight.
I wonder sometimes I just why I cared, oh,
'Cause it gets cold standing in your shadow.
I wonder why won't you

Believe in me
Believe in me

Instrumental

Yes I remember when,
Days were longer then, they'd last forever.
But now it feels like I need a friend.
Someone who'll believe in me till the end.
I wonder why won't you

Believe in me
Believe in me
Believe in me
Like I believe in you.
